Alessia Cara
When she was 19, she released Here, her debut song. It became a huge hit immediately, and both critics and people who loved it praised the song. It reached the top spot at 19th in both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song as one of 2015's Top Songs. In that same year she debuted her album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. This was an exceptional track as, due to the interview with Rap-Up that she held with many of her listeners were able to relate to her experience in discovering their own love while battling with her. Cara is known for infusing lyrics about mental health care and self-love into her music. Cara's music reflects of her own personal struggles to deal with depression and insomnia. In a Reuters interview, she described her album as half-tumultuous as well as half-perfected. Her growth was aided by therapy and encourages other people to seek treatment if they need it. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. Her parents gave her an instrument when she was barely 10. It ignited her passion for music. As a teenager she began covering music she enjoyed on YouTube in order to show the public that she was talented and had the courage to pursue the career of a musician. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather got her noticed by a record company called EP Entertainment which allowed her to create and write music for her.
